The Coordinated Attacks Against State Rep. Jessica Domangue
As John Fleming’s Senate campaign deals with the fallout of election night, his supporters should continue their introspection and ask if their conduct has been helpful to the cause. Swamp Watch has previously noted State Rep. Jessica Domangue has been subject to a vitriolic barrage of harassment and threats from the anti-carbon capture and storage (CCS) crowd. A deeper investigation shows significant overlap between them and the Fleming campaign.
Take Louisiana Citizens Advocacy Group (LACAG), an advocacy group whose principal Chris Alexander has been paid over $16,000 by the Fleming campaign. LACAG called Domangue a “disgrace” over a CCS vote and even attacked her husband, a private citizen. LACAG’s animosity towards Domangue seems to be deep-seeded and beyond carbon capture. LACAG in 2023 endorsed Domangue’s opponents, Willis Trosclair and Dirk Guidry despite the Freedom Caucus’ endorsement of Domangue. In the podcast regarding Trosclair, LACAG’s Danielle Walker notes that she lives in Domangue’s district.
Walker also sits on the board of an organized name We The People-Bayou Community (WTP). WTP have also launched nasty comments at Domangue. Its board members have called Domangue “unhinged”, claimed she sold out Louisiana, and criticized her behavior at a State House hearing. One board member even dismissed threats made against Domangue.
LACAG is also a part of the United Front Against CCS, which includes Save My Louisiana (SML). LACAG has hosted SML leadership on its podcast, The State of Freedom, and all three groups worked together and spoke at two anti-CCS events in January and March. SML also engaged in nasty comments towards Domangue. Board Member Mark Guillory claimed Domangue was “guilty of treason” at a WTP meeting. Several other SML activists such as LA CO2 Alliance President Renee Savant posted a vulgar comic about Domangue and another SML activist made vulgar comments about Domangue on an Easter Sunday post.
Last Saturday, the people of Louisiana agreed: vulgar comments have no place in a civilized society, especially not for a debate about energy projects. This is a lesson the anti-CCS crowd should take to heart.
